Learning Disabilities

Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability.

Owing to the fact that they are likely to find it more difficult than others to describe their symptoms, a good knowledge of legislation and the healthcare system, as well as an understanding of signs and symptoms of various conditions, is essential for anyone working with individuals with learning disabilities.

This free course is split into 7 manageable units:

  1. Understanding the Context of Supporting
  2. Individuals with Learning Disabilities
  3. Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
  4. Introduction to Personalisation in Social Care
  5. Principles of Positive Risk-Taking for Individuals with Disabilities
  6. Introductory Awareness of Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  7. Principles of Supporting Individuals with a Learning Disability to Access Healthcare
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Improve your skills to help create a long-standing career pathway in your chosen industry
  • Courses are delivered as distance learning, allowing you to choose when and where to study
  • Personal tutors are assigned to ensure you have the support needed to succeed

Fully funded subject to meeting the eligibility criteria:

  • Been in the UK or EU for three years for purposes other than study
  • 19+ at the start of the academic year (19-23-year-olds must have Level 2 prior attainment)
  • Not on an apprenticeship
  • Not completed any part of the course before

Delivered by Learning Curve Group (LCG) – national training and education specialists.

  • Paper based learning is considered under special circumstances

Your government-funded course will take 6-10 weeks to complete.
